A Journey Towards Mindfulness

For me its always been nature. Being in nature allows my worries and pain to drift away and helps bring myself back to my mind. It helps me filter my thoughts and gives me the greatest tools to handle my chronic pain.

Since as long as I can remember, my parents encouraged me to start my journey of mindfulness. As a young individual, with a newly diagnosed illness I knew nothing about, I was quick to disregard everything they advised. Recently, in my junior year of my undergraduate career, I have begun my slow journey towards managing Crohn's Disease in a more natural way while continuing to receive my necessary medical treatments. I have noticed that mindfulness has taught me how to filter my thoughts, find more time to do things that I love, and inadvertently reduced how much I notice my body aches and pains. Though, my journey has only begun and I am still not as consistent as I should be, I will be never again be too quick to disregard the power of natural tactics.
